Math formulas

Every formula from the formula cards on the English practice and simulation pages, collected on one page and grouped by topic. Each formula links to the page with the explanation, worked examples and a calculator. To print it, use Print in your browser.

The formulas are copied automatically from those pages, so they always match what the topic page shows. A few topics only have a formula card in Dutch so far (GCD and LCM, division with remainder, scale, area and volume); you find those on the Dutch formula page. Know the formula but not how to use it on your numbers? Ask a question and the matching calculator shows the steps.

Which topic belongs to which exam

Which formulas you are given on the exam itself depends on the subject and level, and the syllabus on Examenblad.nl is the place to check that. The table below answers a different question: which topics the 2027 central exam syllabi name, as listed on our maps for math vmbo, math B havo and math B vwo.

Topics named in the 2027 central exam syllabi (codes refer to the syllabus)
TopicvmboB havoB vwo
Percentages and fractions5.2, 5.4——
Linear relationships and equations4.1B2B5
Quadratic equations, systems of two equations—B2B5
Exponential growth4.1 (KB, GT)B1B2
Derivative—D2, D3C1, C2
Pythagorean theorem; sine, cosine and tangent6.3 (KB, GT)C1E1
Scale, area and volume6.2——

A dash means the topic is not named as a part of that syllabus on our map. Mean and the normal distribution do not appear on these three maps; on vmbo, statistics belongs to the school exam (WI/K/7).
