Mean practice

Practice the mean (sum ÷ count) of a list, with steps from the same code as the mean calculator.

Practice session

What you practise

Most questions ask for the mean. Once you get the mean right consistently, median questions are mixed in, so you learn to tell the two apart. The feedback flags dividing by the wrong count and giving the median instead of the mean.

Example

Calculate the mean of 2, 5, 5, 8, 11.

  1. Sum = 31
  2. Count = 5
  3. 31 ÷ 5 = 6,2

Answer: 6,2 (Dutch notation uses a decimal comma; 6.2 is accepted too).

What you need to know

The mean in the 2027 syllabus, for the level we have a source for. Not a complete exam list.
